You opened your Etsy shop, you listed your item and it SOLD. Woo hoo! There's no feeling like that first Ka-ching. Now what? Now you need to ship your item. In this post, I will tell you exactly how to do it step by step. You will need to printing a Packing Slip (receipt for your order) and a shipping label so that you can ship your item quickly.
Whether you are a new seller or an experienced seller, don't you still feel like celebrating every time you have a sale? I know I do, but there's still the packing up, printing the packing slip and shipping label.
Just FYI – There may be affiliate links in this post. If you purchase an item, we may earn a few cents from the sale. We never recommend anything we don't use ourselves and believe in 100%. See our affiliate policy here.
Print a Packing List (order) for your sale
1. Click on Shop Manager on the main page of your shop.
2. Click on Orders & Shipping
3. Click More actions and use the drop down menu and select Print Order(s) from the drop down menu.
4. Click Print Order(s).
Check the box next to “Packing slip”. If you want to, you can click Customize options, to change what shows on the packing slip. We don't use Order receipts because it does not provide as much information as the Packing slip. For example, you can customize the packing slip to add a Thank you note, your social media links, etc.
5. Your Packing slip (order receipt) should look something like this. This is one of our receipts. I've highlighted some of the areas of the Packing slip.
Now that you've printed your Packing Slip (we call it the Order Receipt), you need to print your shipping label. So keep reading to find out how to print it.
Print a Shipping Label
1. Click on Shop Manager on the main page of your shop.
2. Click on Orders & Shipping (left under Shop Manager) and then click the little mail truck on the order (outlined in red).
3. Verify the information for your shipping label. The information comes from the shipping profile and shipping information you put in the product listing. However, verify that the weight and measurements of your package are correct as well as the correct method of shipping (in this example, First Class). You can even make sure that your shipping method matches what the buyer requested. Then click Review your Purchase.
4. Confirm your purchase of the shipping label by clicking “Purchase”.
3. Print your shipping label. After you click PUrchase (above), you will get this screen. Click print (upper right). Your screen may look slightly different depending on the printer you use.
Now, you just need to insert the Packing Slip in your box or envelope, seal it and attach the shipping label to your box. We use adhesive labels so we don't have to do all that taping of the receipt to the box.
Great job on your first (or not first) sale!
