Step 2 – For the chalkboard, use the backing inside the frame opening (measure from the back). If there is no backing, have a piece of wood cut that is the same size as the opening of the frame (inside of the back of the frame). Home improvement stores will usually cut a small piece of wood for you. Then spray it with Chalkboard paint (more painting, of course). Then secure the wood to the back of the frame.
For the message board, cut a piece of chicken wire just slightly larger than the size of the opening of the picture frame. Staple it to the back of the frame (be careful not to staple through the frame).
Caution: When working with the chicken wire, wear heavy gloves and cut it with wire cutters.
Staple along the edge with a large stapler (not an office stapler) being careful not to go through the frame and turning over the edges of the wire so you don't put marks on the wall where you hang it (and be careful not to poke yourself or others).
