Now, for the different types and styles of antique glove boxes. If you search for “antique glove box” in google, Etsy, Ruby Lane, Ebay, etc., you will find items from $9.99 to $9,999 (and sometimes more).
I have found some unique and intriguing glove boxes to show you. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed finding them for you.
This is a French Glove Box offered by Glo Maslen, Agaric House Antiques, on Ruby Lane. This box has metal studs along the edge and a handle with a cartouche accent piece. For a woman that travels, this would be a great box as it could be easily carried with the handle.
Below is a white Milk Glass Glove Box from Frannie Ellerbee's personal collection. She has the most wonderful shop on Etsy at Etsy.com/shop/FrannieBee if you want to check out her offerings.
First made in Venice in the 16th century, milk glass is an opaque or translucent glass whose colors include (but are not limited to) blue, pink, yellow, brown, black, and the white that led to its popular name. It is commonly called milk glass as it is most commonly found in a milky white color. This glove box has a wonderful embossed design along the top, edges and sides.
Frannie also contributed this beautiful Dithridge hand painted glove box and dresser set from the late 1800s to early 1900s. It is a hand painted milk glass glove box, tray and box. It is available in her Etsy shop.
This leather embossed Maroon Glove Box below has the word Gloves in brass on top with a detailed embossed latch and a red satin interior. This box is one of the many “Down Under” vintage finds you will see at DaysofYoreTreasures, the shop that hails from Australia.
